Everyone enjoys a holiday and people often spend most of the year leading up to it planning, saving or simply crossing off the days until they can fly off. But the there is no longer such a thing as an average holidaymaker that is happy on a package tour to the same destination year on year. You only have to look at the holidays on offer to see how much the travel industry has changed and adapted so that they can offer holidays that match our list of ever changing requirements.
One type of holiday that has seen a radical overhaul is organised group travel (it’s interesting fact that the Danes use the term grupperejser). Previously they were known to focus more on the arts and culture and did not really offer much for the average holidaymaker. However, now group travel is organised for just about every type of hobby or interest available and below is a list of the top 4 reasons why everyone should consider the possibility of trying it out.
Often a couple will have at least some shared interests but these do not always stretch to what they want to do on their holidays. It may be that one of them has to compromise because they would rather take it in turns than take a holiday on their own. Organised group travel trips are full of like minded people that enjoy the same things as you do. Because of this, within the first hour of meeting together as a group, friendships are made that often last much longer than the length of the trip, so no one is ever alone if they don’t want to be.
No matter what the theme of the tour is that you want to take, it will always involve a fair bit of organisation if you do it on your own. There will be different hotel accommodation to book, travel between the destinations and to the places on your wish list, etc. Organised group travel does all of that for you and all you have to do is be at the pick up point at the right time on the right day. This really does take the stress and hassle out of it for everyone.
Even if you are perfectly competent at booking everything yourself and have the time and the will to do it, you may find that you miss out. Organized group travel gets much better rates for all of the above mentioned things than you would on your own. Also, they often are able to get discounted or even free entry to certain attractions. Another point to consider is that if you are visiting a country for the first time, you may not know where every attraction is and you could be missing out on the one that only the locals and those in the know have information on.
It is a sad fact of life that a lone traveler is more vulnerable than those travelling in a group. Often someone travelling alone will want to see a sight at a hard to reach or out of the way destination but will end up crossing it off the list simply because of the security risk. With organised group travel you are able to see every sight that you want no matter where it is because you have the security of being in a group with a professional guide.
