Over 3,000 people, a combination of locals and tourist swam out of the water when the shark was spotted as hundreds of people yelled out “Shark!, Shark!, Shark!” like in the movie Jaws. No one was hurt on this day and everyone was cleared to return to the water after about 3 hours. However, there have been no reported deaths in the United States by sharks so far in 2012.
