Women, it’s a once-every-four-years opportunity, and it’s coming your way. February 29th only comes round every four years, and it’s our opportunity to ‘bite the bullet’ and propose!
Now, some men won’t appreciate being proposed to, because they fell that it’s their responsibility, but frankly, if they haven’t already proposed, then it’s worth taking the plunge yourself and making it a real event. Make sure he’s going to say yes, though, as it’s very hard to accept a refusal.
Tip 1: Don’t do it the man’s way
Most men will get down on one knee and reveal an engagement ring. Don’t do that – it makes you look desperate, and getting down on one knee is his domain! Equally, you being on one knee is a compromising position, and might ruin the moment. So find your own unique way of proposing.
Tip 2: Where are you going to propose?
Consider where you are going to propose, and prepare the groundwork. If it’s outside, go there beforehand and maybe stash a bottle of champagne somewhere. Or – if he’s not into champagne – his favourite drink. Make it something to remember, so base the whole proposal around him. But don’t make it public, as you might embarrass him!
Tip 3: Don’t pretend you’re in a chick flick
There’s a reason men don’t like chick flicks (and if you’ve met a man who does, good luck to you). It’s because they’re made for women! So don’t pretend you’re in one, and don’t think that a full-on romantic proposal will work for him.
Tip 4: In case you chicken out…
Women have always had the ability to convince their man to propose, so keep dropping those hints, and it’ll come eventually. And if it doesn’t… well he’s not the one, is he!
