As the seasons change, different holidays come and go that offer a chance for celebration. Even if you aren’t into holidays, a seasonal gift is one way you can celebrate the changing weather and the newness of the year. Whether you want a seasonal gift just to celebrate the changes in the world or you want a seasonal gift for a specific occasion, such as a housewarming party or a bridal shower, there are a number of seasonal gifts you can offer your friends that are both beautiful and charming.

Wreath

A wreath is one gift your friends will delight in. Even better? A wreath is a gift you can give during any season. Use ribbons and bright, pastel colored flowers for a spring wreath. Opt for more brightly colored flowers in a summer wreath. An autumn wreath should feature strong, orange and red tones while a winter wreath will be more blue and white.

Books

Think giving books is silly? Why not offer the gift of a seasonal book to your friends? There are a plethora of children’s books available that feature different seasons. Opt for a colorful book about summer adventures or an autumn book on going back to school. If you’re celebrating in the winter time, consider a book about snowmen, winter snacks or even something about animal hibernation.

Seasonal Snacks

Seasonal snacks is something anyone can enjoy. Let’s face it: there are plenty of things people eat during specific seasons but not during others. Consider giving a small gift basket with fresh fruit and lemonade during the summer or a basket of hot cocoa and marshmallows during the winter season. For added fun, offer a few baked goods you made yourself. Pumpkin bread is a fantastic autumn treat while your friends may enjoy fresh cookies in the springtime.

Scrapbook

A seasonal scrapbook is one way you can show off your creative side while making an impact on your friend’s life. Put together your favorite pictures of the two of you during different seasons. Organize, decorate and present your scrapbook to your friend. The two of you will have a great time flipping through and remembering fond times and adventures you’ve had together.

Beverages

The gift of a beverage can be a powerful one. If your recipient enjoys drinking, consider a seasonal-appropriate bottle of wine. Something light and sweet is perfect for a summertime event while something like honey wine is more appropriate for the autumn. For non-drinkers, you can still offer a creative assortment of drinks in a gift basket for their enjoyment. Hot cocoa makes a great winter gift while hot apple cider is perfect for autumn events. Feeling even more adventurous? Why not throw in some different sodas, as well? Lemon-lime soda is great for spring time while root beer is more of an autumn drink.

3 Gift Ideas You Cannot Go Wrong With For The Man In Your Life

Any lady who has ever had to shop for a gift for her dad, brother, male friend or significant other will (loudly!) testify that it is not the easiest task in the world. Oh for other girls, it is so easy – if it is pretty, shiny or sinfully chocolate – she will love it. With guys though if you cannot afford to buy him a football team, then you have no idea what to get!

It does not make it any better the fact that you know he will always say thank you and that he loves it even though he does not out of respect for your feelings. You only discover for yourself that he did not actually like the cashmere sweater you got him when you find it stashed at the very back of his closet-along with all the other gifts you had so lovingly gotten him.

This is crushing to say the least, and it leaves you at a dilemma, how on earth will you ever know which gift to get him? As the next gift giving season approaches, you might be almost at the verge of despairing because you just do not know how to get it right. Well here are some ideas that you cannot go wrong with.

Don’t get it wrong!

1.       Gadgets

You probably already know that every typical guy is into gadgets, almost as much (or maybe even more) than they are into sports. But for most of you an iPhone is just out of your reach budget-wise, so you just abandon the idea and settle for that sweater.

You do not have to go over the top with the gadget, which is the secret all you ladies out there should know. As long as it is new and does something cool, he will love it. Get him a blue tooth headset or some other cool gadget. It will cost you much less than the iPhone and will be a much bigger hit with him than the sweater.

2.       Gear

Another gift you cannot go wrong with is gear. What does he love doing? Is it hiking? Get him a pair of good sneakers and a back pack. Is he into a particular sport? Get him a jersey. This solely depends on your ability to observe him and find ways to make it a little easier for him to enjoy his hobby.

If he enjoys a good smoke and you are worried sick about it, but he just will not quit no matter what you tell him, get him an electronic cigarette. E-cigarettes are a healthier way for him to smoke as they does not contain tobacco, and do not produce either second hand smoke or tar.

Oh, your man will love it!

You will be allowing him to pursue his hobby at a lesser risk, to himself and to you too as you will not be exposed to second hand smoke either. It is also not a fire hazard, extra credits for that and best of all he can use it to slowly wean himself off nicotine by reducing the amounts gradually. It really is a well thought out gift.

3.       Tickets

So you could not buy him that football team? Well then how about tickets to their game that’s coming up? Does he have a favorite band? Find out when the next concert is and try get him a ticket, he will love you for it.

A word of caution though, do not insist on tagging along if you know you will be bored silly and will make no attempt to hide it. You will cause him to miss out on the thrill as he tries to make you feel more comfortable. If you want to go then keep your feelings to yourself and be happy for him as he savors the moment. If you cannot do this then just step aside and let him go with his best friend instead, he will really appreciate it!

Local Industry and the Perfect Gift – Why Gift Ideas for Women are Supporting Handmade Stuff

Making something by hand, or making something locally – it’s all part of a trend to move away from the mass produced, faceless items we’ve been swamped by. It isn’t just the recipient who wants something more permanent and more individual either. As gift givers, who wants to think that whatever they buy is going to be the same thing as everyone else in the country is getting; or that it will become outdated or simply stop being relevant in a quite short space of time? No, gift ideas for women now require a bit more thought than they did even just a year or two ago. You can see the trend everywhere you look. Hand-sewn scented pillows. Personalised photo frames. Unusual clocks. Hand carved signs with special messages on them. Whatever the individual ideas, the trend is the same. No more mass production, and much more support for small industries making limited runs of gift ideas in the local area.

Because gifts, gift ideas, in fact a large portion of the disposable income consumer market, has strayed onto a path planted with two kinds of flower: the joy of originality; and the urge to shop in a more ethically responsible fashion.
To put it bluntly – no-one likes the idea that gift ideas for women might be filling the pockets of faceless corporations who run sweatshops; or who don’t have the most environmentally sound policies when it comes to goods manufacture and global distribution; or who pay less to the small-town manufacturers of their products than they really ought. So when we set our faces against the power of global manufacture, we turn back to the smaller company, the boutique or bespoke business as it’s now styled – and we’re happy to pay a little bit extra for something that’s been made honestly, and which gives us genuine pleasure.

In a lot of ways it feels as though the industry is being steered back to a more old fashioned way of doing things. And that’s great. Good gift ideas for women, for husbands, for sisters, for whoever, should not be the matters of rapidity and ease. Of mass marketing and homogeneity. Because ultimately if we let the identikit way of life win, then we’re saying everyone is the same. All the people we buy gifts for are identical, no matter what their relationship to us or their endearing little quirks and personality traits.

Technology is fine and progress is just dandy. But the bottom line is this: we want to give presents to the people we love to celebrate them for who they are. Which means finding new and unusual gift ideas, things that don’t look like they’ve been mass produced as well as things that genuinely haven’t been mass produced. The cottage industry, the little guy or the little shop, is back – and I for one and happy to see the change happening.

How to Choose the Perfect Gift

Choosing the Perfect Gift

When it comes around to fathers day, birthdays or Christmas do you sometimes sigh/ panic/forget and struggle with what to get, it’s not that you don’t want to buy a gift but more that you’re not sure what to get. So you leave it to the last minute in hope that you will get some kind of inspiration, maybe you’ll walk past something or they’ll mention something and you’ll be able to get that.

Buying for some people is easy, from something useful, hobbies, new interests but sometimes you just can’t think what to get, especially difficult when two occasions fall close together meaning you have to put your thinking cap on twice.

What can you do to make things easier on yourself:-

Surprise him with a present1. Put key dates on your calendar/in your phone and put a month reminder on so that you know well in advance. Panic buying doesn’t make it easier.
2. Understand what they are interested in, be thoughtful, buying a box of chocolates every year is not really the answer – especially if they are on a diet.
3. Make them feel special.
4. You don’t always need to think outside the box to make it a special gift. If they have been moaning about too many socks with holes in – a thoughtful gift would be some nice socks – useful, practical and shows you’re listening.
There are many, many different gifts you could buy the man in your life, here are some good suggestions to consider.

Groupon and Living Social are a great way to find deals in your local area, look for interests he has, and if you subscribe to their daily emails you will be able to plan in advance and he’ll be able to choose a day that suits him.

Recent deals have included hot air balloon trips, driving experiences and mini breaks.

Buy him a subscription to his favourite magazine or membership to something he enjoys.

Experience days are a great idea and you can do them together – quality time (as mentioned daily deals are a great place to start looking for offers).

Buy him a treat, look for quality brands and choose something he might not buy himself. A tailored or casual shirt or some argyle socks something a little special. This year pocket squares are making a huge impact, does your dad wear suits to work that could do with a freshen up.

Ask him, it may sound obvious but sometimes he may have something in mind.
Don’t forget the men in your life; buy them something that they will appreciate whether it is an experience or a gift he’ll know you care.
