Any lady who has ever had to shop for a gift for her dad, brother, male friend or significant other will (loudly!) testify that it is not the easiest task in the world. Oh for other girls, it is so easy – if it is pretty, shiny or sinfully chocolate – she will love it. With guys though if you cannot afford to buy him a football team, then you have no idea what to get!
It does not make it any better the fact that you know he will always say thank you and that he loves it even though he does not out of respect for your feelings. You only discover for yourself that he did not actually like the cashmere sweater you got him when you find it stashed at the very back of his closet-along with all the other gifts you had so lovingly gotten him.
This is crushing to say the least, and it leaves you at a dilemma, how on earth will you ever know which gift to get him? As the next gift giving season approaches, you might be almost at the verge of despairing because you just do not know how to get it right. Well here are some ideas that you cannot go wrong with.

1. Gadgets
You probably already know that every typical guy is into gadgets, almost as much (or maybe even more) than they are into sports. But for most of you an iPhone is just out of your reach budget-wise, so you just abandon the idea and settle for that sweater.
You do not have to go over the top with the gadget, which is the secret all you ladies out there should know. As long as it is new and does something cool, he will love it. Get him a blue tooth headset or some other cool gadget. It will cost you much less than the iPhone and will be a much bigger hit with him than the sweater.
2. Gear
Another gift you cannot go wrong with is gear. What does he love doing? Is it hiking? Get him a pair of good sneakers and a back pack. Is he into a particular sport? Get him a jersey. This solely depends on your ability to observe him and find ways to make it a little easier for him to enjoy his hobby.
If he enjoys a good smoke and you are worried sick about it, but he just will not quit no matter what you tell him, get him an electronic cigarette. E-cigarettes are a healthier way for him to smoke as they does not contain tobacco, and do not produce either second hand smoke or tar.

You will be allowing him to pursue his hobby at a lesser risk, to himself and to you too as you will not be exposed to second hand smoke either. It is also not a fire hazard, extra credits for that and best of all he can use it to slowly wean himself off nicotine by reducing the amounts gradually. It really is a well thought out gift.
3. Tickets
So you could not buy him that football team? Well then how about tickets to their game that’s coming up? Does he have a favorite band? Find out when the next concert is and try get him a ticket, he will love you for it.
A word of caution though, do not insist on tagging along if you know you will be bored silly and will make no attempt to hide it. You will cause him to miss out on the thrill as he tries to make you feel more comfortable. If you want to go then keep your feelings to yourself and be happy for him as he savors the moment. If you cannot do this then just step aside and let him go with his best friend instead, he will really appreciate it!
