Over 3,000 people, a combination of locals and tourist swam out of the water when the shark was spotted as hundreds of people yelled out “Shark!, Shark!, Shark!” like in the movie Jaws. One tourist was able to shoot a video of the event but the footage either hasn’t been revealed or was not worth watching.

No one was hurt on this day and everyone was cleared to return to the water after about 3 hours. The increase of the seal population around Cape Cod Bay has also raised the number of Great White Sharks around Nauset and nearby beaches.  However, there have been no reported deaths in the United States by sharks so far in 2012.
